This set puts the whole prep station in one place: chef, bread, santoku, boning, utility and fruit knives in the block, plus six steak knives for the table. The block hones the edges as you draw a blade through it, so they stay usable without a separate routine.

Kitchen shears and a cutting board complete the kit. The blades are high-carbon German stainless steel with a coated face, in a matte black finish that suits most counters. Hand-wash and dry the knives for the longest edge life.
